Background
The educational goals of the Sacred Heart Schools include social awareness that impels to action.
Objective
To raise awareness among the Sacré Coeur School in Melbourne of social justice and environmental issues during the Lent season.
Activities
Each year, during the season of Lent, the whole school community engages in the social awareness and fundraising campaign called Project Compassion. Project Compassion is an archdiocese wide initiative which supports the work of Caritas Australia.
Each annual campaign has a focus on a particular global social issue. During Lent, supporting curriculum material about an annual theme provides the means for raising student awareness of the issue. This educational component of the program is supplemented by a fund raising component.
